“There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about.” – Magaret J. Wheatley
Scoil Naomh Eoin, Ballincurrig are proud to be part of the caring Ballincurrig community where ties forged with our local Ballincurrig Care Centre and Silver Stream Healthcare has proved to be beneficial to students and residents alike. The children of Scoil Naomh Eoin greatly enjoy all their visits to the Silver Stream Ballincurrig Care Centre but especially enjoyed recent events like the celebration of mile-stone birthdays and Easter. They have learned that if you want to be bright and clever on your 100th birthday then “paying attention in school and keeping your brain active is key”!! All our teachers wholeheartedly agree!
Silver Stream Healthcare have a proven track record in embracing the communities that surround their care homes. Tom Finn, the CEO of Silver Stream Healthcare, recently visited the school and spoke to us about how the local community plays a vital role in everything they do and they endeavour to enhance the wellbeing of their residents through care, comfort and community. Their Care Centres welcome local sports and activities clubs by hosting training activities on the grounds of Care Centres, drama and choir groups for entertainment visits and even visits by the occasional miniature pony, goats and pets in some centres! As Mattie JT Stepanek said “Where there is teamwork and collaboration wonderful things can be achieved.”
We, in Scoil Naomh Eoin, are delighted with the wonderful sponsorship they extended to us in the form of repainting school buildings, giving a whole new facelift to our front wall and redoing all the yard, playground and car park markings. This work was carried out by the talented Dave Corkery on behalf of Silver Stream. We are very grateful for our new smart look and extend a sincere thanks to Tom Finn CEO of Silver Stream Healthcare and to Ballincurrig Care Centre for caring for their local community.
