Principal’s Address

Welcome to Scoil Naomh Eoin, Ballincurrig

As Principal of the school it is my pleasure to welcome you all.  We have a wonderful community here in Scoil Naomh Eoin where pupils, parents, staff, Parents’ Association and members of the Board of Management all work to create a positive and progressive learning environment.

Scoil Naomh Eoin is set in the picturesque area of Ballincurrig in East Cork, in Lisgoold parish just a short distance from Midleton. We are both a Green School and an Active School and we encourage our pupils to participate, play, make friends and learn with such programs as Active Play and Lunchtime Pals. We have green play areas, an outdoor basketball court and a new School Hall.

Our enthusiastic Class Teachers and Special Education Teachers are dedicated to providing the best classroom experience for your child. Teaching is supported by digital learning. We introduce our pupils to educational technology in the safe environment of the classroom and teach them the importance of proper online codes of conduct and safety procedures. We are aware of the different stresses facing young students today and we help them develop the tools needed to deal with challenges in our emotional wellbeing program.

We enjoy much success in inter-school hurling and football Sciath na Scol competitions and the Cork Primary School Sports Athletics competition. We have a great water safety program that includes swimming lessons for pupils. We have Cycle Right classes for older pupils helping them develop their cycling skills and road safety awareness in time for secondary school. Teams from Scoil Naomh Eoin successfully participate in regional Chess Tournaments and local and national Writing and Quiz competitions. Our pupils enjoy class Science Programs, Drama and Music with the fun and camaraderie of being part of our Christmas drama productions. Our Book Club and Book Fair have become fantastic environments for encouraging pupils to read and share that experience with their friends.

The comprehensive learning and variety of activities we support gives every child the opportunity to develop their strengths and confidence ready for the transition to secondary school and beyond.

I am happy to meet with parents who wish to find out more about our school. Please contact office@ballincurrigns.ie to arrange a visit.
